8 Weeks to Sketching with Confidence

Join us for an eight-week journey into sketching — build strong foundational drawing skills while developing confidence and creativity.
Level: beginner
Ages: 12 and up
This sketching course helps participants build strong foundational drawing skills while developing confidence and creativity. Over eight Tuesday evenings, you will learn to observe and draw important physical attributes such as form, proportion, texture, tone, and pattern, which are essential for creating accurate and expressive sketches.
Through guided exercises, you will explore shading techniques and understand how light affects objects. You will practice drawing still life subjects and participate in timed sketching exercises to improve efficiency, learn to identify key elements, frame compositions, and communicate ideas visually within limited time. By the end of the course, you will have gained stronger observation skills, better technical control, and a clearer understanding of composition and space.

About the instructor:Â Palak Dhorajiya is a self-taught artist who reignited her passion for creativity during the pandemic. Originally from India, she balanced art with her studies. After moving to Calgary for a career in Interior Design, she temporarily set aside her artistic pursuits. However, discovering alcohol inks during the pandemic reignited her love for creating.
