Guided by artist Patrick de Guzman, you’ll create a captivating campfire scene using dynamic mark-making techniques. Experiment with dashes, lines, curves, and zigzags to build depth, warmth, and movement, bringing the flickering flames and their surroundings to life.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop offers a unique fusion of storytelling and painting. You’ll not only leave with beautiful artwork, but also with a memorable experience of sharing stories and connecting with others through art.
What to Expect:
- Storytelling: Every painting begins with a story. Participants will be encouraged to write a 3-sentence story that will inspire the campfire scene you’ll create together. Your personal narrative will shape your painting and guide the entire session.
- Embracing Mistakes: Art is all about play and experimentation. Patrick encourages everyone to embrace mistakes as part of the creative journey, allowing the process to unfold in unexpected and exciting ways.

Location & Experience:
Hosted in the ambient space of the Marriott Residence Inn in downtown Calgary, this workshop offers a unique setting for artistic exploration. Further location details will be emailed to registrants upon booking confirmation.

About the artist: Patrick de Guzman is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the intersections of animation, painting, coding, filmmaking, and storytelling. At the heart of his creative approach are two key elements: play and stories. His process often begins with lighthearted ideas that evolve into deeply meaningful reflections, using art as a tool to engage, connect, and inspire. As he continues to develop his practice, Patrick seeks to blend interactivity with traditional and digital mediums, crafting self-reflective experiences that make art more accessible to everyone.
