Ink & Frame: The Art of Holding Words

Write it. Refine it. Frame it. Take it home.
Level: all levels
Ages: 12 and up
Some words are too good to live only in a notebook. In this creative writing workshop, you’ll slow down, tune in, and give form to the words that live within you — then build a hand-painted frame to hold them.
Bring your imagination. We’ll provide the rest. Using a unique visualization technique called Connected Writing Practice, you’ll quiet the noise and settle into that generative space where all ideas come from. Guided relaxation, music, and sensory cues invite you into “the flow” — and from there, you’re free to express whatever comes forward, whether that’s a sketch, a splash of colour, or words that feel just right. Then you’ll refine those words into something you’ll want to keep — and frame them in a hand-painted frame you create yourself, using watercolour, stencils, and gel pens.

Who is this for:
This workshop is perfect for teens and adults who love words, art, or both — no experience necessary. Whether you’re a seasoned poet or someone who has never picked up a paintbrush, you’ll find a warm, supportive space to explore and create. It’s a beautiful way to capture a feeling or a moment that matters — and carry a piece of it home.
Location & Experience:
Held monthly in the ambient space of the Marriott Residence Inn in downtown Calgary, each session is built around a new prompt to spark the imagination. Further location details will be emailed to registrants upon booking confirmation.
