Three hours to put the week down: a sound bath in aerial hammocks, followed by guided mandala art making.
Level: beginner
Ages: 14 and up
You’ll start lying in a hammock, suspended and weightless, eyes closed, while the sound moves through the room around you. Nothing is asked of you while it does. Then you’ll come back down to a table with a wooden round in front of you, and dot a mandala onto it one colour at a time until it’s finished and it’s yours.
We’ve partnered with Nitya Sadhana Yoga & Movement for this one. Shuchi Shah leads the sound bath in her aerial studio, and Palak guides the mandala.
No experience needed for either half. You don’t need to know how to meditate: you lie there, and that’s the whole instruction. And you’ve never needed to be able to draw to dot a mandala. It’s dots, placed slowly, and the pattern does the work for you.
Everything is included: your hammock, your 6-inch wooden round, paints, dotting tools, aprons, and instruction throughout. You’ll leave with a finished piece you made yourself.
Rest First, Create Second. Arrive 10 minutes early. Wear fitted, comfortable layers, something that covers your underarms and the backs of your knees so the hammock fabric doesn’t pinch. Skip anything with zippers or metal fittings. The hammock portion is barefoot or in socks.

About The Artist
Palak Dhorajiya is a self-taught artist who reignited her passion for creativity during the pandemic. Originally from India, she balanced art with her studies. After moving to Calgary for a career in Interior Design, she temporarily set aside her artistic pursuits. However, discovering alcohol inks during the pandemic reignited her love for creating. Inspired by her mother and art tutor, she began crafting original pieces and teaching others. Palak offers custom artwork and art classes, providing a creative space to transform ideas into beautiful art.
Palak’s workshop is offered on multiple dates. To find alternative dates, browse [here].
