Join the stained glass artist Kara for an intimate, hands-on workshop where you’ll dive into the captivating world of stained glass in a guided, beginner-friendly setting.
In this step-by-step session, you’ll create a stunning 3D stained glass garden stake using the copper foil method. With prepared glass pieces ready for you, you can jump straight into the most fun parts—foiling, soldering, and assembling—while learning Kara’s unique approach to 3D soldering.
What to expect?
Over the course of about four hours (with a short break in between), you’ll receive personalized guidance in a small-group environment (maximum 6 participants), with all materials and tools provided.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave not only with a one-of-a-kind stained glass piece for your garden, but also with new skills, confidence, and hands-on experience working with glass—all in a supportive, creative space where learning and making go hand in hand.
Who is this for?
This workshop is ideal for anyone aged 14+ who is curious about exploring the art of stained glass. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Whether you’re a complete beginner or simply looking to try a new creative craft, this session is designed to help you confidently dive into stained glass making, with step-by-step guidance and plenty of support throughout the experience.
About the artist: Kara Bussey is a Calgary-based stained glass artist, known for reimagining glass as both sculpture and statement. Blending traditional copper foil techniques with unconventional materials, her work pushes beyond flat panels into layered, dimensional forms-ranging from intricate botanical sculptures to wearable glass pieces seen on runways and in contemporary exhibitions.
